20 subterranean rooms with well-preserved frescoes from the 2nd century AD
Located below the Basilica of Saints John and Paul, the Roman Houses of Caelian Hill are thought to be the home and burial place of those martyrs. The houses are also a spectacular example of the subterranean spaces that typified that era, giving an insight into the lives of the different social classes who once lived there.
Visitors can take in 20 rooms full of well-preserved frescoes, then check out the collection of everyday artefacts in the museum.
